Our Approach

AFRICOOP offers sustainable business solutions and provides co-operatives with knowledge, skills, and hope, bringing opportunity and hope to some of the poorest communities in Africa.

We boost financial inclusion, reduce vulnerability, improve lives and nutrition, and generate jobs and opportunities. Women and men alike, including the younger generation, can democratically run their cooperatives and obtain access to resources and possibilities through our partnerships.

Over 20 million lives will be positively impacted by over 100 projects that AFRICOOP will conduct in 36 countries over the course of the next ten years alone.

Communities cannot effectively establish spaces that are inclusive and uplifting until they address issues of gender inequity and socioeconomic differences.

Resilient communities and a more prosperous future are achieved when climate change is viewed through the long-term perspective of environmental sustainability.

Effective cooperative development can be achieved by increasing the uptake of cooperative development as a strategy in its journey toward community-led development and by enhancing its impact through knowledge and evidence-based methods.

AFRICOOP assists cooperatives with revenue generation. We collaborate with regional and partner groups to support smallholder farmers, dealers, and producers by offering technical assistance in creating business plans that raise the value of cooperative firms. We are able to create and fortify cooperative and credit union businesses by recognizing and seizing market possibilities, aided by research and data.

AFRICOOP collaborates with communities and individuals to develop their skills and create economic opportunities based on cooperative values and principles. We inspire people to acquire cutting-edge methods, instruments, and strategies in areas including financial inclusion, marketing, bargaining and contractual agreements, agriculture, and the framework for gender equality.

AFRICOOP works closely with cooperative representatives and government representatives to develop and enhance the policy and regulatory environments for farmers, agricultural producers, micro, small, and medium-sized cooperatives, and businesses.

AFRICOOP uses a Results-Based Management strategy for all its projects, which emphasizes learning, adaptation, performance evaluation, and outcomes. We are committed to continuous improvement, both in our own and our partners' work. We enable our project partners and their cooperative members to find ways to become more proficient in their operations and find possibilities for knowledge sharing and evidence dissemination.
